Come join the greater community in learning the rhythms of the Mandingue from West Africa. Djembe and dunun drumming is used in many of the life rituals (weddings, birthdays, full moon celebrations, etc.) embedded in the culture of the Mandingue. It can be a healing tool by helping to connect with nature and opening one's consciousness.

Cost : $12 per class or series of 4 classes $40

Classes will be taught in four-week courses. Drop-ins are always welcome.

First Course Dates: February 16th, 23rd, March 1st, and 15th
Second Course Dates: March 29th, April 5th, 12th, and 19th

Taught by Daouda Grey Hawk:
International performer and teacher of West African percussion since 1995. He has taught and served on the Board of Trustees for Tam Tam Mandingue USA, and TTM International. He has studied the Mandingue culture focusing on djembe and dunun training in Guinea, West Africa and around the globe. Daouda has toured and performed with Mamady Keita, Moments of Clarity, TTM USA, Sankofa, Khalid Abdul N'Faly Saleem, Hakili, Drum Cafe, and many many others. His drumming has been featured on CD's, PBS, and National Public Radio. Currently he plays with the local band "the greymatters".

6:30pm - 8pm, Thursdays – All levels are welcome!
No prior experience necessary.
$12 per class or $40 monthly.
There is a limited amount of djembes available for a fee of $3 per class, call a day ahead of class to reserve.
Bring a note pad and an audio recording device to maximize your learning experience (no video allowed).
