Navigating the Maze of Self-publishing with Ray Rhamey

Go on a journey through self-publishing. Ray Rhamey covers how-to for
mechanics, costs, editing and book design, and surveys services
offered by Lulu.com, CreateSpace and Lightning Source International.
He will cover ebook publishing as well - from Kindle Boards to ebook
publishers.

Afternoon Workshop: ($30 to members-$35.00 for visitors) 1:30-4:30

Creating a Killer First Page
Ray utilizes real first pages by to show the pitfalls many writers
create for themselves, and talks about how to avoid them. He discusses
the necessary elements for fiction, especially the first page—He has
done this workshop at writer’s conferences, including the Mendocino
Coast Writers Conference and the Write on the Sound Writer’s
Conference in Edmonds, WA.

Workshop members can submit either their prologue and first chapter or
just their first chapter for inclusion in the workshop. Email them as
attachments to ray@rayrhamey.com.. Ray will share the first pages (no
names) with workshoppers, who will vote whether or not they would turn
the page. Ray adds his analysis. You learn a about creating a
compelling first page whether you submit a chapter or not. For a taste

Bio: Ray Rhamey is a developmental fiction editor, author (4 novels, 1   non-fiction), Indie publisher, and book designer offering design, editing, and production services for self-published writers and small publishers. He writes the internationally known blog, Flogging the Quill, on creating compelling fiction, and is a contributor to the Writer Unboxed literary blog. His background includes advertising and
screenwriting. His writing how-to book, Flogging the Quill, Crafting a Novel that Sells (2009), gets rave reviews from writers.
