Ka Pi'o O Ke Anuenue, Ashland's Hula Hui presents their Winter Ho'ike: A Hula & Hawaiian Music Offering of Aloha, with haumana (students) and 'olapa (dancers) from the school and musicians from Hawaiian band Ha'ena.The concert presents hula kahiko, ancient style hula performed to live chanting and drumming and hula 'auana, modern style hula accompanied by contemporary music. This season's dances also include the use of several implements, including 'ili'ili (stones played like castanets), 'uli'uli (feathered gourd rattles) and ipu (gourds played for percussion).A $5 donation is suggested.
