(Ashland, Ore) The Hannon Library will host a poetry reading celebrating Oregon's late poet laureate, William Stafford, on January 21, 7:00 P.M. in the Meese Meeting Room #305. The public is invited to attend this free event, cosponsored by Friends of Hannon Library and Friends of William Stafford.Each January, poetry readings are held in the U.S. and internationally in honor of William Stafford’s birthday. Though it has been sixteen years since Stafford’s death, he still has a large audience for his publications. New books of his work continue to be published, and he remains one of the country’s most published poets.This event fill feature Oregon’s current poet laureate, Lawson Inada, reading his own work and works by William Stafford. Other readers include Gary Lark, Dave Harvey, M.E. Hope, Amy MacLennan, Charlotte Abernathy, and Maria Fernandez. Audience members are encouraged to bring a favorite William Stafford poem to read.
