Midwife Rachel Zaslow will give a lecture, "War and Birth: A Midwives Perspective in Northern Uganda " Thursday evening, December 29 at 7:30 pm at the Havurah in Ashland. Zaslow, who is executive director of Mother Health International and founder of Earth-Birth, says, "More women die in childbirth in Sub Saharan Africa than are shot or killed in war each year. Northern Uganda has the second highest birth rate in the world and also the highest mortality rate." Through stories and images, Rachel Zaslow will share her experiences around the nature of war and violence, reproductive health and a group of women who are fighting to find a better way. FREE.
