Along with honoring the mother's in our midst, we will explore the motherhood of God. Only a relatively short time has passÉd since we have been free to name God as Mother as well as Father. Textual archaeological digs of the 1970's and 80's reestablished the
mothering aspects of God with such books like "When God Was A Woman"by Merlin Stone or "Beyond God the Father" by Mary Daly.
These days we might take this radical groundbreaking of the feminist theologians for granted, but in 2014 have we integrated this gift of God as Mother? How has the Motherhood of God impacted you in your personal faith? In our collective understanding of our role as a church, how could our way of serving be enhanced if we really took onthe ancient Goddess ways of being a hearth and home in our community?
