Unearthing Shadows

A great deal of focus in modern spiritual circles is placed upon "the light" and "being positive." Negativity and fearful states are often regarded as unhealthy and even threatening—threatening because negative thoughts and emotions are seen as being potentially capable of magnetizing the very things and situations that we don't want straight into our lives! And yet a "positive thinking" orientation cannot adequately deal with subconscious material, the "dark inner world" of suppressed emotions, programs and experiences we all carry within us. In fact, 92 to 98 percent of all our decisions and choices in life are actually driven by the subconscious mind!
In the face of this reality, it makes sense to unearth the cultural and spiritual bias against what has traditionally been understood as the dark inner realms of the Goddess—a bias that keeps modern spiritual seekers away from accessing all their emotions and programs, thus freeing up the energies bound within the subconscious.
