(Ashland, Ore.) –  “Unfolding Democracy in Albania” is the topic of a presentation to be given by Ashland resident, Susan Landfield on Monday, May 23 at 4pm in the Meese Room (#305) of the SOU Hannon Library.

Susan’s perspective comes from her experience working as a short-term international election observer with Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) during the May 8, 2011 local government elections in Albania. With 56 member nations from Europe, Central Asia and North America, OSCE is the world's largest regional security organization.

A former Communist nation, Albania joined OSCE in 1991 and invited the democracy arm of OSCE to assist Albania in its democratic transition in 1997. OSCE has observed nine elections there, during which Albania has gradually progressed towards international standards.
