TRANSITION TOWN ASHLAND invites you to join us at this month's ACTION PLANNING MEETING on Thursday, October 15, at 7 p.m. in the Gresham Room, downstairs at the Ashland Public Library.Action Planning Meetings are held on the Third Thursday of each month. People who come to these meetings will have the opportunity to join existing Action Groups or to form new ones. Action Groups meet, report on their process, and give and receive ideas and support. On the 15th, we'll hear from these Groups: Food, Heart & Soul, Energy, and Health.------------------------------------------------------------------------In addition, on the 15th, we have some other activities planned, as well:-----------------------------------------------------------------------Learn about 350 DayScientists say that 350 parts per million CO2 in the atmosphere is the safe limit for humanity. On October 24, people all over the world are taking a stand for a safe climate future. Organizers are calling it 350 Day.Here in Ashland, we're having a Drum Jam at the Plaza on Saturday, October 24th at 3:50 p.m. We'll be taking photos of our rally, and — along with photos of people rallying for 350 Day all over the world — they will be projected onto the UN building this December in Copenhagen, as world leaders gather to negotiate the new treaty to replace the Kyoto Protocol. There will be nearly 2000 rallies in over 140 countries around the world! For more information visit www.350.org.------------------------------------------------------------------------Discuss the Response to City GoalsSome months ago, the Ashland City Council issued a request for citizen feedback on the City's published Values, Visions, and Goals. With input from many members of the community, TTA compiled and submitted a Response. You can read it at http://transitiontownashland.org/CouncilGoals.html. On the 15th, we'll discuss upcoming developments in the planning process.------------------------------------------------------------------------Help with planning and outreachWe'll tell you about some of our plans and possibilities -- including The Great Unleashing and the creation of an Energy Descent Action Plan -- and we'd like to hear your ideas and inspirations.Public presentations about the Transition Town movement are an important part of our mission. If you wish, you can help us improve those presentations and organize events where we can share information with the community.------------------------------------------------------------------------And . . .------------------------------------------------------------------------We're looking for a laptop computerWhen we do public presentations, we use a PowerPoint slideshow to help us convey the information. A laptop computer is required to give the presentation, but not all of us who are planning to "go on the road" own a laptop. We're hoping to find a community-minded person who will donate a laptop for this purpose. We're looking for a laptop that's in good shape -- Windows or Linux or Mac -- ready for high-speed Internet, with a USB port, preferably with at least a GB of RAM.If you have such a laptop that you would be willing to donate, please contact us at ttacontact@gmail.com, or give Lance a call at 482-1692.------------------------------------------------------------------------To learn more, or to contact us, please visit our Website at http://transitiontownashland.org/.Please share this information with friends and associates who are interested in local sustainability.Thank you.
