TRANSITION TOWN ASHLAND invites you to join us at this month's ACTION PLANNING MEETING on Thursday, November 19, at 7 p.m. in the Gresham Room, downstairs at the Ashland Branch Library.Action Planning Meetings are held on the Third Thursday of each month. People who come to these meetings will have the opportunity to join existing Action Groups or to form new ones. Action Groups meet, report on their process, and give and receive ideas and support. On the First Thursday of every month, we host an Introduction to Transition Towns at 7 p.m. at Peace House, 543 S. Mountain in Ashland.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------On the 19th, we'll also be addressing one of the most essential issues for people who are concerned about sustainability: managing waste.Risa Buck, the Recycling Coordinator for Ashland Sanitary [ www.ashlandsanitary.com ] will do a presentation, show a short video, and answer our questions about the current state of waste management in our community, as well as possibilities for the future, and the transition to Ashland Sanitary's new owner, Recology [ http://recology.com ].Here's the Tidings article about Recology's organic-waste-composting service in San Francisco:http://www.dailytidings.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20091020/NEWS02/910200316--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Speaking of "waste awareness," there's an excellent video, Waste = Food, on the Multi-Media Page of our Website, at http://transitiontownashland.org/multimed.html.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------We're looking for a laptop computer. When we do public presentations, we use a PowerPoint slideshow to help us convey the information. A laptop computer is required to give the presentation, but not all of us who are planning to "go on the road" own a laptop. We're hoping to find a community-minded person who will donate a laptop for this purpose. We're looking for a laptop that's in good shape —Windows or Linux or Mac — ready for high-speed Internet, with a USB port, preferably with at least a GB of RAM. If you have such a laptop that you would be willing to donate, please contact us at ttacontact@gmail.com, or give Lance a call at 482-1692.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------To learn more, or to contact us, please visit our Website at http://transitiontownashland.org/, where you'll find info on Transition Towns and Permaculture, access to our Action Groups, to local CSAs, to the Sustainability Inventory, to our Multi-Media and Links Pages, an opportunity to share ideas, and much more. Please join us on Thursday, November 19, to learn more, and to connect with your neighbors in this vital and exciting enterprise. And bring a friend! Please share this information with friends and associates who are interested in local sustainability.Thank you.
