Thursday, October 21stAshland Library Gresham Room7-9 pmFREEThe City of Ashland is doing an update of their transportation plan with a focus on alternative transportation. One of the keys to reducing our dependence on cars is the creation of "pedestrian nodes", multi-use areas where people can live, work and shop within a 5-10 minute walk. The City has designated three such areas in Ashland, and is holding a workshop for public response on Wednesday October 27th. On third thursday, we will be discussing the City's plan and preparing people to give written or verbal input that can influence the city's direction in a way most conducive to making the transition to a low carbon/low energy future. On our website, you can find some background information on multi-use pedestrian nodes and the city transportation workshops, written up by Melanie Mindlin, a member of Transition Town Ashland's initiating group and an Ashland Planning Commissioner. We hope you'll be able to join us for this discussion. Even if you can't join us, please consider going to the public workshop.City of Ashland, Transportation Plan UpdatePublic Workshop #1 - Pedestrian PlacesWednesday, October 277:00- 9:00 pmAshland Middle School, 100 Walker Ave.
