Transition Town Ashland invites you to our next Introduction meeting, where you can learn about this exciting, community-based movement to create a sustainable future. The meeting will be held on this coming Thursday, March 4, at 7 p.m., at Peace House, 543 S. Mountain, just above SOU, in Ashland. We host these Introduction meetings on the First Thursday of every month. On the Third Thursday of every month, we host Community Action Planning meetings. The next Action Planning meeting will be held on Thursday, March 18, at 7 p.m., at the Ashland Library, downstairs in the Gresham Room. We recommend that you attend an Introduction meeting before you come to an Action Planning meeting.------------------------------------------------------------------------The Great UnleashingAn essential part of the mission of a Transition Town is to share information and inspiration with the community. "The Great Unleashing" is an important milestone in the development of a Transition Town. It's a well-publicized, very visible celebration that's designed to invite the attention and the involvement of the larger community. It's meant to be enjoyable, educational, and engaging . . . to raise awareness, support, and participation. It may include well-known speakers, games, workshops, food, demonstrations, activities for kids, and whatever else works in the particular community that's hosting it.The last two Third-Thursday Action Planning Meetings have been devoted to brainstorming possibilities for Transition Town Ashland's Great Unleashing. They've been fruitful, fueled by lively intelligence and a very positive spirit, and they've produced a lot of good ideas. We will continue this process.People at the meeting said, "We want to continue working on this, but a once-a-month meeting isn't enough. Give us tools to stay in touch, to access information, and to collaborate in an on-going way." So we will! As part of that, we're working to develop online resources to serve the process. When they're "on the air," they'll permit anyone who's interested to get involved, to find out what's going on, to share ideas, to help it happen. We'll keep you posted.------------------------------------------------------------------------To learn more, or to contact us, please visit our Website at http://transitiontownashland.org/, where you'll find info on Transition Towns and Permaculture, access to our Action Groups, to local CSAs, to the Sustainability Inventory, to our Multi-Media and Links Pages, opportunities to share ideas, and much more. Please join us on Thursday, March 4, to learn more, and to connect with your neighbors in this vital and exciting enterprise.
