Transition Town Ashland
is planning a very special event –
The Local Foods Treasure Hunt
– to be held in September,
and we invite you to take part in creating it.
and we invite you to take part in creating it.
Here's the idea: Kids and families follow a treasure map to local farms, where they are welcomed by the growers. They get a tour of the farm, and they get to harvest produce. They take their harvest to a place with a big kitchen and dining area, where professional cooks help them prepare a variety of snacks and a meal to share. Useful information and fun activities will be available, too, and each family will receive a recipe book to take home.
Participating in this fun adventure will increase awareness and educate children and families about the importance of healthy, locally-grown food, and it will help develop skill and enjoyment in preparing and sharing healthy meals.
Please join us for our Third-Thursday meeting on
July 15 at 7 pm at the Ashland Public Library,
downstairs in the Gresham Room.
You can learn more about the Treasure Hunt, offer your own ideas, and find out how you can help it happen.
