Transition Town Ashland invites you to our next First-Thursday meeting, where you can learn about this community-based movement to create a sustainable future. The meeting will be held on this coming Thursday, August 5, at 7 p.m., at Peace House, 543 S. Mountain, just above SOU, in Ashland.Head, Heart & HandsWe'll start the evening with some time for connecting, a chance to share what interests, concerns, and passions bring us to the gathering. We'll continue with a brief introduction to the Transition Town vision, inviting everyone to contribute. Then we'll talk about the Local Foods Treasure Hunt, the wonderful family adventure we're planning for September. Families will visit local farms, where they'll meet the growers, get a tour, and harvest some produce. Then they'll take their harvest to the Bellview Grange, where professional cooks will help the families prepare snacks and a meal to share, there at the Grange. It'll be fun and informative, a chance for kids and families to visit the places where healthy food is grown, to have the satisfaction of preparing delicious food, and to experience community in this positive way.We invite you to support this adventure by volunteering your time to help with the preparations, or at the farms, or at the Grange. If you'd like to do that -- or to get more info -- you can tell us at the meeting, or contact Brett atschumacher.brett@gmail.com or at 608-772-2738.You can also donate money for projects like this by writing a check to Transition Town Ashland. (It's tax-deductible.)
