TRANSITION TOWN ASHLAND invites you to join us at this month's Action Planning Meeting to CONTINUE THE PROCESS OF CREATING THE GREAT UNLEASHING on Thursday, April 15, at 7 p.m. in the Gresham Room, downstairs at the Ashland Public Library.---------------------------------------------------------------------THE GREAT UNLEASHINGThe Great Unleashing is a time when the Transition group reaches out to the whole community, to engage, to celebrate, to share ideas, inspiration, and fun. It encourages people to be part of the solution, and to feel good about that.We invited TTA members to help create a plan for Ashland's Great Unleashing, and many excellent ideas have emerged. You can view them online here:http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=txP8NRvoG4ZDQ2qxgndSpAg&output=htmlHere's an online tool that gives us a way to be in touch, to share information and ideas about the Unleashing: http://thegreatunleashingashland.ning.com/At this month's meeting, we want to continue the process, and we hope that you'll bring your ideas to this process.---------------------------------------------------------------------HELP CREATE A PLAN FOR OREGON'S WATER RESOURCESAvailable water supplies have diminished across the West, and increased population and development are creating greater demand. In the last session, the legislature passed the Water Investment Act (HB 3369), which directs the Water Resources Department to develop a water strategy. The Department is hosting ten Open Houses around Oregon to hear from you. The Open House in Medford will be held on Tuesday, May 11, at the Medford Library, 205 South Central Avenue. The program begins at 4:00 p.m. with a project overview and discussion and repeats at 5:30 p.m.----------------------------------------------------------------------RPS: REGIONAL PROBLEM SOLVINGHelp decide the future of the Bear Creek ValleyIt’s been estimated that the population of the Rogue Valley will double by the year 2050. This raises concerns about which lands the Valley's cities will use for their expansion, and about protecting agricultural land. For more than ten years, many governmental bodies in the Rogue Valley have participated in the RPS process, including city governments, RVCOG, resource agencies, and some State agencies.1000 Friends of Oregon and Rogue Advocates have been tracking this process and sharing information with the public. They don't agree with all the policy recommendations that have emerged. They would like to see better protections for certain ag lands, and more attention to transportation issues. You will soon have a chance to comment on the draft RPS plan.Public Forum April 26If you're concerned about traffic congestion, the local food supply, protection of farmland, the economy, or our quality of life, you can attend an educational forum and learn about the plan and how you can get involved to make it better. This forum will focus on the role Ashland will play in this plan and how the plan will impact Ashland residents. The forum will be held on April 26 at 6:30 pm at Headwaters, 84 Fourth St., in Ashland. You can learn more about the RPS process at these Websites:-- 1000 Friends RPS FAQs: http://www.friends.org/issues/regional_problem_solving/FAQ-- RPS Page: http://rvcog.org/mn.asp?pg=RPS_2010-- RPS Plan Page (PDFs): http://rvcog.org/mn.asp?pg=RPS_Plan_2010-- Calendar of Public Hearings: http://rvcog.org/mn.asp?pg=RPS_Public_Meetings_2010#----------------------------------------------------------------------Please visit our Website at http://transitiontownashland.org/.
