The History of Anti-SemitismRabbi David Zaslow, spiritual leader of the Havurah synagogue, will teach a class on Tuesday, June 9 from 7:30 - 9:00 PM on “The History of Anti-Semitism.” This class will examine the tragic history of the prejudices against the Jewish people and the nation of Israel. The roots of anti-Semitism will be looked at from the misinterpretation of the New Testament through the Middle Ages in plays like The Merchant of Venice. Learn how the classic stereo-typical image of the Jews has been adopted by modern anti-Semites in the form of anti-Zionism. Ayala Zonnenschein, Havurah Program Director, says "The resurgence of anti-Semitism around the world so soon after the Holocaust is deeply disconcerting. Understanding its roots is crucial for anyone committed to putting an end to it." Cost of the class is $4. Pre-registration is required. Call the Havurah office at 488-7716 to pre-register or with any questions. The Havurah is located at 185 N. Mountain Ave. in Ashland.
