The Ashland Gathering of the Peacemakers September 2-5
After four successful years of hosting gatherings in the East Coast, authors and One Love Event organizers Julia and Robert Roskind are bringing their Gathering of the Peacemakers to the West Coast. Billed as “days of wisdom and conscious music” their first West Coast gathering will be held Labor Day weekend (September 2-5) at Jackson WellSprings in Ashland, Oregon.
The gathering includes conscious recording artists Indubious, Alcyon Massive, Synergy, Rocker Tee, Cornflower, and Underwater Radar. Also, there are daily workshops in creating a loving, sustainable and balanced life. Workshops include such subjects as affordable shelter, living-on-less, yoga and meditation, finding your mission in life, creating visionary events, creating and sustaining loving marriages and unions, condolence and forgiveness, Hopi and Mayan prophecies, and much more.
The Roskinds are authors of Rasta Heart: A Journey into One Love and 2012: The Transformation from the Love of Power to the Power of Love. In the last ten years, their family has organized and hosted over 170 free One Love Concerts & Events in Jamaica and on Native American reservations, colleges, prisons, and public venues in the U.S. All these events encourage the audience to claim themselves as "teachers of love" by exercising love and forgiveness in their lives. They have recently founded The One Love Foundation, a non-profit organization to carry forward a message of unconditional love for all.
“Last year, several of the conscious recording artist in the Ashland area contacted us after reading Rasta Heart and asked if we could bring the vibe to their area,” says North Carolina-based Robert. “We were delighted. I use to live in Southern Oregon and Julia’s from Northern California so it’s like a homecoming for us.”
The 3-day Gathering, which costs $75 and is limited to 100 people, is held at Jackson WellSprings, a 30 acre natural hot springs spa and retreat center located in beautiful Ashland, Oregon. Camping is included and a vegetarian café will be operating during the event. It is an intoxication-free, family-friendly event (under 14 are $30 and under 3 are free). Details are available at www.OneLoveFoundation.net.
“This is not just another outdoor festival,” says Atlanta-based recording artist Laura Reed. “All the music will be 'musical medicine,' carrying messages of love and forgiveness."
"The Gathering is part spiritual retreat, part festival and part summer camp for both children and adults,” says Robert. “Our goal is to prepare ourselves for the coming decades of change so that we might share this peace and sense of purpose with others.”
