St. Clair Productions presents Sue Foley and Peter Karp at the Unitarian Fellowship, 87 4th St., Ashland, on Friday, March 8, 8 p.m.  Blind Pig Records artists Foley and Karp are touring in support of their new CD Beyond the Crossroads.  Tickets are $20 in advance, $22 at the door, $10 for 12-17 and free under 12.  Tickets available at www.stclairevents.com, 541-535-3562 or at the Music Coop in downtown Ashland.

Canandian blues musician Foley, winner of 17 Maple Blues Awards and one Juno award, met Karp, singer/songwriter on the Blind Pig label, at the Ottawa Blues Festival in 2006.  She was hired to sing backup vocals on Karp’s Shadows and Cracks CD released by Blind Pig.  Soon after, the two began an e-mail correspondence.  When Karp’s life turned upside down due to his wife being diagnosed with cancer and his drinking and depression taking over, the e-mails that once were just cordial and light fare became intimate and revealing.  After Karp’s wife died in February, 2009 and he was ready to go back to work, Foley and Karp decided to work together and turn the e-mails into songs.  The result was He Said - She Said released on Blind Pig in March 2010.

He Said – She Said hit the Top 10 on the Billboard Blues Charts and was #1 for 6 weeks on the National Blues and Roots Charts. For the last two years they have kept up a frenetic touring pace with features at the Bayfront Blues Festival, New York State Blues Festival, Pittsburgh Blues Festival, Bethlehem Musikfest, the Americana Festival, and Castel San Pietro Blues in Italy.  He Said She Said was featured on Sirius/XM Radio, NPR, CBC radio, PBS TV, The House of Blues Bluesmobile and Woodsongs Radio Hour among others. They earned nominations at the International Blues Music Awards in Memphis and the Maple Blues Awards in Canada.

Beyond the Crossroads marks the newest chapter in the collaboration between these two noted singer-songwriter guitarists.  A high voltage, plank spankin’, piano boogyin’, slide guitar stompin’, blues-rocking CD that showcases twelve brilliantly crafted and unique original compositions.  It’s a loud celebration of triumph over tragedy, optimism over despair and faith over hopelessness.

"Diverse and charismatic, electric and potent throughout, yet incredibly blusey as well. The chemistry shared between Peter Karp and Sue Foley is something that doesn't come around very often, and the musical relationship is way too good to fail." - Blues Revue
