St. Clair Productions presents comedian Swami Beyondananda in Wake Up Laughing and Wise Up Loving, an evening of conscious comedy, on Saturday, May 15, 8 p.m., at the Unitarian Center, 4th and C Streets, Ashland. Swami Beyondananda is the cosmic comic alter ego of writer, humorist, performer and uncommontator Steve Bhaerman. The Swami’s favorite yoga pose is tongue-in-cheek. Swami's latest venture is to combine his non-religion of FUNdamentalism (accent on “fun”) with the non-politics of the newly-formed Right to Laugh Party ("one big party ... everyone is invited"), to create one big evolutionary up-wising to overgrow the current dysfunctional system. Tickets are $20 in advance, $22 at the door, $10 for teens 12-17 and free under 12. Tickets are available at the Music Coop in the A Street Marketplace in Ashland, on-line at www.stclairevents.com or by calling 541-535-3562.Then join Bhaerman in a community-building workshop: Building the Heartland Community: Evolving Spontaneous Evolution From Ideal to Real Deal. The workshop takes place on Sunday, May 16, 1:30-4:30 at the Unitarian Center. Bhaerman co-wrote the book Spontaneous Evolution with Dr. Bruce Lipton, an internationally recognized leader in bridging science and spirit. The workshop is designed to activate the two characteristics of evolution: awareness and community. The first hour is about expanding awareness, as Steve presents how the principles of Spontaneous Evolution are already being put into action. The second hour is about building community, as participants break into groups of four to "tell a vision" for themselves, their community and their world. In the final hour, these visions are shared, as the whole group chooses to empower one or more of these visions with their ongoing participation. Cost is $30/advance, $35/door, $25/each for groups of 5 or more. Register at www.stclairevents.com or call 541-535-3562.
