Psychologist and author Dr. Joan Borysenko will be offering a workshop in Ashland, Oregon the weekend of December 4-6, 2009. Dr. Borysenko is the author of 14 books including the New York Times bestseller, “Minding the body, Mending the mind”, as well as a psychologist and medical scientist with a doctorate from Harvard medical school.The workshop titled “Spirituality and Healing” focuses on spirituality as a tool to relieve the “deepest forms of modern suffering”. As a pioneer in the mind/body connection Dr. Borysenko promotes an understanding that the spiritual dimensions of life are an integral part of health and healing. She states that “Spirituality heals the rift between human beings and Life by restoring a sense of deep connection to a larger meaningful whole. This connection results in a constellation of positive emotions, which can be an antidote to succumbing to depression and anxiety by increasing the human capacity for resilience.”The event has been approved for six continuing education credits through Oregon NASW.
