Ashland New Plays Festival (ANPF) will present a reading of celebrated playwright E. M. Lewis’s award-winning play Song of Extinction. Lewis will be attending the performance.The play is directed by Caroline Shaffer, and ANPF is once again tapping the talents of Oregon Shakespeare Festival actors; the play will be read by Liisa Ivary, Cristofer Jean, Blaine Johnston, Jeff King, Anil Margsahayam, and Brad Whitmore.Cited as one of the best plays of 2009 by Playbill and winner of many other prestigious awards, Song of Extinction was produced at the 2008 Ashland New Plays Festival, where it was a smash hit.Doors open at 7 p.m. During a pre-curtain wine-and-cheese reception, violinists Chloe Brown and Lindan Burns will entertain. Violist Mason Hodnefield will play the original score, Disembarking, composed by Geoffrey Pope.
