SAUL KAYE IN CONCERT - JEWISH BLUES Saturday, August 1st, 7:30 p.m.,Tickets: $10, $5 kids under 12 Tickets available at the Music Coop, 181 “A” St. in Ashland. What is it that keeps us engaged in community and our history? What are the ageless stories that root us to our past are connect us to our ancestors? They are the stories of the Old Testament (the Torah), the writings of the prophets, and the other books of the Bible. In a tumultuous time in our own history, these stories take on even more significance in our lives today. On his latest CD, Saul Kaye has mined the rich tapestry of the Torah in a cross cultural merging of the music that emerged from the African Slavery experience in America. To express the hardships of the Jewish Slavery Experience, and give a voice to those characters whose songs haven’t been sung yet, Saul has dipped the Old Testament into the Delta to bring you Jewish Blues Volume One to life! The Blues makes us feel good through a resonance with the characters in the story or through a comparative reference point with our own lives. When we hear the Story of Jeremiah being thrown into a pit as a messenger of God (from the song ‘Jeremiah’s Blues’) we feel our worries pale in comparison. On another song, ‘Sea of Reeds’, Saul explores a conversation between two men who are trying to decide if they will follow Moses out into the desert or stay in the comfort of their homes in Egypt.Journey back in time with the stories from this live CD and accompanying book and experience JEWISH BLUES VOLUME ONE- LIVE!If you are a fan of niggunim, Keb MO, Muddy Waters, and delta slide guitar, you'll love this show!www.saulkaye.comCOOL WATER RECORDS510-243-1896Celebrating the release ofJewish Blues Volume One- Live!www.jewishblues.org
