On Monday, May 17, members of the Sanctuary One staff will provide an overview of their special care farm in the Applegate Valley. Titled "Sanctuary One at Double Oak Farm: A Refuge for Animals, a Healing Place for Humans", the presentation will describe how their programs nurture the human-animal bond in a way that is healing for both, while promoting environmental stewardship. Among these programs are the rescue of abused and neglected farm animals and pets, ecotherapy for at-risk youth and juvenile offenders, development of a large-scale organic garden to grow food for the Applegate Food Bank, and educational field trips for school children. This Community Forum will take place from 10:00 am to noon in the Presentation Hall of the RCC-SOU Higher Education Center at 101 S. Bartlett Street in Medford. It is part of a free monthly series sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at SOU. Refreshments provided starting at 9:30 am. No registration is necessary. Details are available at www.sou.edu/olli or by calling 541-552-6048.
