Using public transportation, even for just one day a week, can make a difference. It's fun, saves money, and reduces traffic congestion and pollution. But uncertainty about exactly how to utilize our public transportation system can keep people from taking advantage of it. A free Community Lecture titled "RVTD: A Tutorial on the Use of Public Transportation" will be held on Wednesday, May 26 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm in Room D of the SOU Campbell Center at 655 Frances Lane in Ashland. It will feature Kat Smith, Transportation Options Coordinator for the Rogue Valley Transportation District, and cover specific skills needed to optimize use of public transportation -- how to read transit schedules, locate bus stops and plan an optimal route to a final destination. Attendees will receive free bus passes so they can experience how easy it is to plan trips around the Rogue Valley. This program is part of a weekly series sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at SOU. No registration necessary. Details are available at www.sou.edu/olli or by calling 541-552-6048.
