Rona Yellow Robe will perform songs from her second album entitled, The Gathering, accompanied by guitarist Bruce Witham. Rona has received many accolades including, nominated for the 2011 Native American Music Award for BEST SONG WRITER OF THE YEAR for her CD Voice of the Trees, BEST STAGE PERFORMER Pacific Northwest Flute Quest 2009, and 2008 RNAF Indigenous Flute Scholarship Recipient. Rona has taught Native American flute workshops at the renowned Zion Canyon Native Flute School and at the Pacific Northwest Flute Quest Festival. She is known for her powerful vocal ability, Native American Flute style and heart filled presence. It is by playing the Native American Flute, which she refers to as "her other voice", that Rona Yellow Robe has become comfortable sharing with all audiences, aspects of her life that are personal to her. CD's will be available for purchase at the event.


Contemporary Native American flutist and educator John Sarantos will be opening the evening of music as well as joining Rona Yellow Robe on a few improv duets during her set. One of the world's pre-eminent Native American flute instructors, John has facilitated weekend and week- long contemporary Native American flute workshops from coast-to-coast for over 19 years. His introductory, intermediate, advanced and master classes have been available from New York City's prestigious Open Center, national cultural gatherings, intimate flute circles and one-on-one private lessons. For 13 years, he has facilitated with Ken Light and R. Carlos Nakai at the Renaissance of the Native American Flute workshop in Montana. He was the first to receive the prestigious Naja Award from R. Carlos Nakai for his work in promoting the Renaissance of the Native American Flute. He was a main presenter and performer three times at the International Native American Flute Association conventions . John has performed live in venues large and small; including New York City's Carnegie Hall.
