Rogue Solar, a community based, volunteer-driven solar program created by Rogue Valley Council of Governments (RVCOG) and RHT Energy Solutions (RHT), is kicking off Round 2 this month. Round 1 began in June of 2012 and was wildly successful. It is touted as the most successful solar program in Oregon on a per capita basis. In Round 1,148 people signed up for the free solar site assessments, and of that nearly 60 residents and/or business owners installed solar. In most other cases throughout Oregon, there would have only been 14 installations, as most solar contractors experience a 1 in 10 realization rate from assessment to installation. This has been attributed to the fun, educational workshops that are put on by Buzz Thielemann, owner of RHT. In the workshops you will learn how solar is a wise financial investment with a return on investment as high as 15% - far greater than that of any CD on the market today.
Another factor in the popularity of Rogue Solar is that they are able to offer an exclusive Rogue Solar Discount because they negotiated a bulk purchase price on the panels through a local distributor. In addition, all panels are manufactured right here in Oregon at Solar World! Another reason for Rogue Solar’s success is that they have partnered with Rogue Federal Credit Union, who created an innovative financing program specifically for Rogue Solar called "Living Green." Borrowers taking advantage of this short-term, low interest loan only have to make interest payments, with payments on the principal scheduled at the time that they receive their tax credits and incentives.
