On Saturday, November 13 at 5:00 PM the Havurah presents its annual fundraising auction, Puttin' on the Ritz. This gala event features both live and silent auctions, live musical entertainment with food & wine flowing throughout the evening."This year's auction theme, "Puttin on the Ritz", has inspired us to bring the auction to a new level. From our live and silent auction items, to our raffles to our entertainment, everything has a shine and brightness that will entice all of our guests. And, you never know, Fred and Ginger may even show up!"The evening opens with the silent auction from 5:00-7:15 p.m. featuring hundreds of gift certificates and items from local merchants and artists including restaurants, spas and bodywork. Rabbi David Zaslow says, “We are so grateful to our local merchants, who are so generous each year. We couldn’t do this without them. The admission price is worth it for the food and entertainment alone.”“There will be great deals on gift items, gift certificates from local restaurants, fabulous exotic vacations and local getaways, and a huge array of services – including things that folks need every day, from plumbing, organizing to housecleaning and landscaping. It’s the perfect time to do your holiday shopping. For the first time this year we are featuring a Live Auction Raffle with only ninety-nine tickets sold, in which the winner gets to choose their prize from anything in the Live Auction,” says Ayala Zonnenschein, Havurah Program Director.

The live auction, led by auctioneer/real estate agent/community philanthropist, Ron Burgess, begins at 7:15 PM and features a one week Costa Rican vacation, a week in Mexico, affordable getaways to the Oregon Coast and Lake Shastina, one week in an elegant vacation home in Maine, a one year unlimited movie pass for two, gourmet dinners, and many more offerings. Mitch Sherman, local artist, has donated a stained glass piece, entitled ‘A Blessing for All.’ Each year our attendees look forward to Sherman’s creation.”Admission is $30, which includes food, wine and entertainment. Once registered for the auction, if you are unable to attend you may have a personal bidder assigned to you for the live auction. Call 488-7716 to register by phone or go to http://auctions.readysetauction.com/havurahshirhadash to register online. 50/50 raffle tickets, in which the winner receives half of the raffle income, and Live Auction Raffle tickets are available on line as well and in the Havurah office. The drawings will take place at the Auction, and winners need not be present to win for the 50/50 raffle. The Havurah is located at 185 North Mountain Avenue in Ashland.
