S. OR Willamette Writers presents Craig Wright, nationally published short story writer & author, Saturday November 3
Craig Wright is a short story and song writer, guitar player, professor, father and husband from Ashland Oregon. Born in Louisiana, Craig received his MFA at University of South Carolina where he studied with James Dickey. For 25 years Wright has published stories in national journals and magazines and his book of stories, Redemption Center (Bear Star Press), is now also available as an e-book. His recent story published in Sleet Magazine, "The Things Other People Do," has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and his story, "Birds," was solicited for The Harvard Advocate's Commencement Issue this past summer. Craig's band Cast of Clowns, a national touring band, just released a cd, "Have a Heart." Craig has twice been a winner of Ashland's Sneak Preview's Best of Ashland, for Favorite Professor at SOU and for Favorite Musician.

Afternoon workshop: 1:30 to 4:30 pm ($35 nonmembers, $30 members)
Working Off the Page, Pt. 2, Story/Fiction Writing: We will do exercises designed to help with the following among other issues warranted by discussion...
· Making it up
· Letting go of intent in favor of inspiration
· Following around our characters
· Building a story
Students are encouraged to bring up to four pages of a recently begun work of fiction.
