Robert McDowell, author of Poetry as Spiritual Practice, will lead a workshop on Saturday, January 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Ashland Branch Library, 410 Siskiyou Boulevard. This benefit workshop for the Friends of the Ashland Public Library welcomes writers of all levels. McDowell says, “Together we’ll create a sacred space where we can safely share the words that emerge from our deepest emotional wells, from the spiritual paths we all wander along. Journaling and poetry can wake us up to the pure sounds and shapes of our innate gifts and potential.”Interactive exercises and guided meditations from McDowell’s bestselling book will help give shapes to the thoughts and emotions that buffet and guide us. All that’s required is your willingness to enter the magic of words and the community-building energy of sharing. There is a $15 charge for the workshop, with checks made payable to the Friends of the Ashland Public Library. Reservations are encouraged. Lunch is on your own. Call the Ashland Branch Library at 774-6996 for more information.
