Course Teachers: Chuck Burr and Larry Korn.Guest Instructor: Tom WardThis is a two week 72 hour intensive design certification course held on a working permaculture farm. This course is based on Bill Mollison’s curriculum. There will be experienced guest instructors and site visits to working farms and gardens in and around the Rogue River Valley of southern Oregon.You get to experience permaculture on a working farm. Two weeks of living permaculture, vegetarian meals, doing work in the soil, real world planning, all with a tight group of like minded people. There is a bonding experience that happens early on in the two week intensive course. It the purpose of this "residential" course. By being onsite you can focus, you remove the distractions, and it changes your life, literally.Over the two weeks we will study:Meta Systems: evidence, ethics, principles, and pattern design.Natural Systems: climate, ecosystems, landform/earthworks, water, forests and trees.Cultivated Systems: zones and sectors, microclimate, building design, mapping, energy and technology, waste treatment, plants and animals, aquaculture, gardening, making a living with permaculture, and farm market planning.We are fortunate to have Tom Ward as a guest instructor on social forestry and how trees work including windbreaks, hedgerows, orchards, forest gardens.On site camping space is included, as well as three vegetarian meals each day. You will also enjoy our new indoor classroom, hot showers, and onsite clothes washing. Please arrive on June 12th. Dinner will be provided that evening. We start at 800 am on Sunday, June 13th.What to bring: sleeping bag, tent, pad, toiletries, headlamp, walking shoes, rain gear, water bottle, clock, journal, and drawing tools if you already have them for the design project.
