Craterian Performances presents the Children’s Musical Theatre of Oregon production of "Once on This Island" Wednesday through Saturday, August 19-22, at the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater, Medford.The show opens Wednesday, August 19, at 7:30 pm with a $5 dress preview performance. Other performances at $18 for adults/$9 for youth (0-18) are set for 7:30 pm Thursday and Friday, August 20-21, as well as a 3 pm matinee on Saturday. For tickets, call the Craterian Box Office at 779-3000 or visit www.craterian.org.“Once on This Island” is an enchanting Broadway musical that follows the story of a peasant girl, Ti Moune, who rescues and falls in love with a wealthy young man. Will prejudice keep them apart, will the rambunctious island gods intervene, will love prove to be stronger even than death? “Once on This Island” answers all these questions with colorful characters, zesty storytelling, a rousing score and a Caribbean twist.Children’s Musical Theatre of Oregon (CMTO) is well known locally for its splashy, large-scale and high-energy productions that feature some of the valley’s most talented youth. CMTO has recently become a program of Craterian Performances, providing musical theater performance opportunities for youth ages 5-21. The program will be supported in 2009-2010 due to generous grant funding from the Evelyn Nye Cultural and Scholarship fund of the Oregon Community Foundation and the Carpenter Foundation.
