Native American flutist Scott August presents Intermediate Native American Flute and Improvising Workshop on Sunday, November 7, 2-4 p.m. at the Unitarian Fellowship, 87 4th St. , Ashland. Cost is $40. Register at www.stclairevents.com or call 541-535-3562.Do you sometimes feel stuck in your flute playing? Do you feel you hit a plateau? Multi-award winning artist Scott August will help you on your way to discovering the songs inside of you. You'll learn tips and trips to turn even the simplest ideas into complete songs or improvisations.Topics will cover:* Ornamentation: Trills, turns, chirps/pops and woofs.* Breathing techniques.* Tonguing techniques* Basic improvising techniques* Understanding melody* How the notes of the NAF want to move* Basic formsProduced by St. Clair Productions, Scott August will give a concert on Saturday, November 6, 8 p.m., at the Unitarian Fellowship. Tickets are $20 in advance, $22 at the door, $10 for teens 12-17 and free under 12.
