Mad as Hell Doctors brought to our region by Southern Oregon Jobs with
Justice http://www.sojwj.org/
SOUTHERN OREGON-- The Oregon Chapter of Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP) and Mad As Hell Doctors (MAHD) will follow up on their landmark 2009 national tour and 2010 California tours with spirited reprise rallies in Grants Pass, Medford and Selma on March 26, 27 and 28th featuring music by bluegrass singer and composer, Bob Wickline of Fox Island, Washington, documentary videos by Paul Hochfeld M.D., testimony by physicians and nurses, and "Mad As Heck Minutes" by audience members on camera and on screen.
PNHP is a group of physicians, nurses, ancillary health providers, and
other concerned citizens fighting for a Single Risk Pool National Health Insurance Program to provide financially sustainable universal health coverage for all Americans. In September, 2009, PNHP Doctors traveled 6,000 miles through America's heartland from Portland, OR to Washington, D.C., stopping at over 40 venues in 22 states during the trip. After appearances on the Ed Schultz Show (MSNBC), Keith Olberman (MSNBC), Democracy Now, and interviews on dozens of other media outlets, the group now continues to use its unique approach and activist flair to advocate for Single Risk Pool, Improved Medicare-for- all.
NHP contends that although the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (P-PACA) does point us in the right direction, it does too little to protect the health and livelihood of patients and their families. P- PACA serves to further entrench the current medical-industrial complex with its chaos and an unsustainable cost spiral within our health care system.
PNHP further contends that the Oregon Health Policy Board, as a result of House Bill 2009, has proposed critical improvements in Oregon's health care system but these improvements will be achievable only under a Single Risk Pool, Improved Medicare-for-all.
PNHP has hit the road again carrying its message throughout Oregon. After visiting Southern Oregon with tour stops in Grants Pass on March 26, Medford on March 27 and Selma on March 28 the Docs will finish off the month with Brookings for an evening show March 28, Bandon on March 29, Coos Bay March 30 and Roseburg March 31. whew!!! what a schedule!
