School starts soon, and parents are helping their children to round up required school supplies. For some families, the added expense for these items can be prohibitive or impossible. A group called Love Ashland Network (LAN) is reaching out to their neighbors again this year by offering free backpacks filled with basic school supplies to anyone who needs them.
The backpacks and supplies valued at 20 dollars contain notebooks, paper, pens, erasers, pencil pouches and other items suitable for students grades K-8. All the items are brand new. Any student may receive a backpack, there are no applications, and anyone in need is eligible. Only 150 backpacks are available, so plan to arrive early.
Established in 2008, Love Ashland Network is a group of anonymous Ashlanders concerned about the wellbeing of low-income residents of the community.
LAN thanks their eight-year partner South Valley Human Services for their support with this event.
