On Wednesday, February 23 at 7 PM the Hauvrah will host a screening of Jews and Baseball: An American Love Story. Narrated by Dustin Hoffman, starring Sandy Koufax, Larry King, Kevin Youkilis, Shawn Green, Yogi Berra, Ron Howard and many, many others, the film explores the connection between Jewish Americans and baseball, our nation’s most iconic institution.10877404286?profile=original

More than a film about sports, it is a story of immigration, assimilation, bigotry, heroism, the passing on of traditions, and the shattering of stereotypes. The screening will be hosted by Rabbi David Zaslow, who will lead a discussion following the film. Although the films in the Jewish Film Series are usually free of charge, tickets for this film are $7 advance, $10 at the door, and proceeds will support the producers of the film. Tickets are available in the Havurah office at 185 N. Mountain Ave., in Ashland. Call 488-7716 for more info.
