This section covers how the publishing industry works, including the distribution pipeline, the economic model of the industry and trends and changes affecting independent booksellers, chains, online sales, specialty markets, and more.
- Inside a publishing house — What publishers want to see in submissions and how a publisher selects, develops, packages, markets, promotes, and distributes a book.
Afternoon Session: ($30.00 for all participants) 1:30-4:30.
Promoting and Pitching Your Book
- Out into the world — How to market your book (and yourself). What you can do to make your book successful through marketing and promotion. Discussion will include use of internet marketing of you and your work.
- Pitch Your Book. Learn the art of "pitching" your book to an agent or an editor. (Steve has been both in his career). Get a rare opportunity to pitch your manuscript to Steve. He will provide feedback and ideas for strengthening both your manuscript and your pitch.
