                     AND CHALLENGES
                       7 pm, Wednesday March 20, ASHLAND PUBLIC LIBRARY, 410 Siskiyou Blvd. 

The Cuba/Venezuela series screens INDEPENDENT MEDIA: HOPES AND CHALLENGES. Speakers address how the US media promotes our foreign policy through propaganda, psychological warfare, and misinformation. (approx. 50 min.)
   *  Eva Golinger, attorney, author and journalist, discusses psychological operations and  the contracts the US has with media corporations, acting to undermine the government of Venezuela.

   *  Greg Wilpert, US sociologist and journalist, relates how wealthy owners of major media in Venezuela helped to plan the short-lived 2002 coup.
   *  Michael Albert, US journalist, calls for more active alternative and community media, to counter and clarify the mainstream media on a global scale. 

                  Doors open 6:30 to 7:15.  All are welcome.            Discussion to follow the screening.
