St. Clair Productions presents the Latin Guitar World Fusion quartet Incendio on Saturday, April 16, 8 p.m., at the Unitarian Fellowship, 874th St., Ashland. Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door, $10 for teens 12-17 and free under 12. Tickets are available at the Music Coop in downtown Ashland, on-line at www.stclairevents.com or by calling 541-535-3562..

Bandmembers of Incendio knew the kind of inspired passion and energy they wanted toconvey when they named their band in 1999.  Guitarists Jim Stubblefield, Jean-Pierre Durand, and LizaCarbé with percussionist Bryan Brock create a polyrhythmic swirl of multiple Latin American music forms (boleros, cumbias, salsa, tango, mambo and theindigenous Peruvian valses criollos) combined with Indian, Arabic and Celtic flavors. Then they add just the right touch of jazz improvisation and dynamics, and the sizzling result is whatone Incendio fan called “edge of your seat music.”

Incendio's richly textured music is rooted in myriad sources: Carbé's flamenco and classical guitar training as well as her Sicilian ancestry; Durand's Peruvian heritage; Stubblefield's European travels and musical collaborations with Kuwaiti Oud maestro Waleed Hamad.

Incendio band members will give an Exotic Guitar and Percussion Workshop for guitarists and percussionists to learn to play together on Sunday, April 17, 10:30a.m.-noon., at the GEOS Building (formerly the Headwaters Building) at 4thand C Streets, Ashland.  Cost is $25. Register at www.stclairevents.com or call 541-535-3562.
