PEACE HOUSE’S NEXT HAPPY HOUR PEACE TALK
Jim Phillips and Lucy Edwards will talk about the crisis of human rights and violence in Honduras, the institutional practice of official impunity, and the U.S. role in militarizing the country.
Lucy and Jim were Witness for Peace volunteers in Nicaragua from 1985-1987 and in Honduras in 1988. Jim teaches Anthropology and International Studies at Southern Oregon University and is writing a book on Honduras. Former JPR News Director Lucy is currently a member of an international accompaniment team in Honduras, and since April, 2010 has traveled to Honduras on seven accompaniment trips. She has just returned from an international human rights conference in Honduras' northern Aguan Valley, a site of tremendous conflict and political murders.
