As part of the Jacksonville Chinese New Year celebrations, SOU presents a free lecture on Monday, January 23rd in the Hannon Library Meese Meeting Room at 4 PM. The lecture, “Hidden Heritage: Revisiting Jacksonville’s Chinese Quarter” will discuss recent excavations by the Southern Oregon University Laboratory of Anthropology. Staff Archaeologist Chelsea Rose will share Chinese artifacts from the excavations and what they reveal about the history of the town’s Chinese population. Mark Tveskov, Associate Professor and Director of the SOU Laboratory of Anthropology, will discuss the mission and activities of the lab.
