“HAIR” HAPPENING AT THE HAVURAH:NIA COMMUNITY DANCE TO THE MUSIC FROM “HAIR”On Saturday, June 13, Ashland Nia Black Belt, Rachael R. Resch, will lead a special community dance event set to the music from the Broadway show, “Hair.”“At this time in the world, and at all times, we can engage together in the practice of loving kindness,” says Resch. “And at the same time, we can embody the spirit of play and have fun dancing to great music.”The Nia Technique® is a devotional and adventurous movement practice developed in 1983 by Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas. Nia blends nine lineages from dance arts, martial arts and healing arts, such as jazz dance, Tai Chi and yoga.Rachael Resch, MS PT, LMT, is a certified Nia Black Belt, dancer, movement educator, student of mythopoetic traditions and owner of Synergy Physical Therapy in Ashland. For the past four years she has led Nia movement at the Havurah during the Jewish High Holiday services. Debra Zaslow, local author and storyteller, says, "Rachel Resch is an exhilarating NIA teacher! Her choreography is original, natural and inclusive of every-body. You'll get an inspirational workout on every level-- body, heart, mind and soul!"The “Hair Havurah Happening” takes place at Havurah Shir Hadash, 185 N. Mountain, in Ashland, 7:30-9:00 pm, as a fundraiser for the Havurah. Suggested donation is $10-$25. No previous dance experience is required. For information, contact the Havurah at 541-488-7716.
