The blurring or softening of sharp outlines in painting by subtle and gradual blending of one tone or color into another.Exhibit Description:This latest display by Studio Sfumato brings to life new and exciting work by the artists. In addition to pieces on canvas, the show will feature numerous smaller works on paper ranging from $35-$60. Many Sfumato artists will be in attendance to talk about their work and share their inspiring stories.Studio Sfumato in Medford, a social enterprise of Living Opportunities, is an art studio for professional artists with a wide range of disabilities.The Exhibition runs July 5-27, 10am-6pm daily. Pieces include: "Bird" Acrylic on Paper and "Late Afternoon Sun" Acrylic on Canvas by Andy Atalla: Painting since 2005, Andy has enjoyed amazing success with the sale of his paintings. He has sold twelve works of art in the last two years. Andy will very enthusiastically say about himself, "You are so excited, you are artist." Andy likes feeding ducks in the park and the sound of the ocean."Dancing Circles" Acrylic on Paper by Sean Smedegaard: Sean, who produces wonderfully expressive, abstract work, was first exposed to art at Studio Sfumato. Since then he has blossomed as an artist. Sean also competes in the Special Olympics as a multi-sport athlete. Mostly non-verbal, when asked if he would like to paint Sean gives a resounding, "Yup!"Living Opportunities, Inc., the sponsor of Studio Sfumato, has been creating new life experiences for individuals with developmental disabilities since 1974.
