The SOU Civic Engagement Program, together with the Ashland Food Angels, hosts an Oxfam Banquet:

"FEAST OR FAMINE?"
Where's YOUR place at the food table?

at 7 pm on Thursday, November 17, in the Rogue River Room of the Stevenson Union.  The banquet, designed to explore the topic of world hunger and homelessness, is open to the general public, and will offer people an experiential opportunity to learn about the "haves" and the "have nots".  Entry is by a donation of any amount, with a suggested donation of $5 to $25.  Interactive participation will be encouraged and all ages are welcome.  A silent auction of arts, clothing and Christmas items will benefit the local hungry.

The Civic Engagement Program explores and addresses the issues of homelessness and hunger particularly in the Rogue Valley, through a variety of practical and educational activities.  Contact CEP coordinator, Sophia Mantheakis for more information about this program:  mantheaks@students.sou.edu or 541-552-8039.

Donations from the "Feast or Famine?"event will all go to the Ashland Food Angels, a registered non-profit which gives away hundreds of pounds of food every day of the year.  Operating since 1995, the Food Angels donate gleaned food to over 20 groups, including food pantries, children, seniors, community meals, and those with special needs. For more information, to make a donation or to volunteer, contact director Pamala Joy at ashlandfoodangels@gmail.com or 541-482-5330.
