Join us for simple wheat weaving to celebrate the harvest. We will be using organic wheat, lovingly grown and hand harvested by Full Circle Wheat in Ashland, to make bundles and simple weaings to adorn and bless the temple, or to take home.
Karley Loveling will be returning from Eugene, Oregon, to lead us in harvest songs and chants as we work.
Wheat’s lineage can be traced to the ancient grasses of Mesopotamia and is the first cultivated grain. In much of Europe, the last sheaf of wheat from the harvest was cut down with reverence and ceremony, and displayed in the home through the winter. In Spring, it was returned to the soil, returning the spirit of the grain to the earth to be reborn in another crop of grain. Wheat weaving’s were often hung in the home as both decoration and protection, a symbol of the cyclical nature of birth, life, and resurrection, prosperity and our connection to Mother Earth.
Extra scissors would be greatly appreciated.
Blessed Be!
