The empty nest stage gives us the opportunity and the challenge for the parent/child relationship to become more separate and yet, paradoxically, more connected. The Kids Grow Up chronicles Lucy’s emotionally-fraught last year at home before leaving for college. A loving portrait of a girl transitioning into womanhood, and a deeply poignant look at parenting and what it means to let go. This is a film that mothers, fathers, daughters and sons can equally appreciate.
