Seed saving is the defining act of agriculture if not civilization as a whole, it all starts with the seed. Bioregional seed banks of well adapted food and medicinal plants will continue to emerge as one of the more important forms of wealth for all communities where people like to eat. Siskiyou Seeds is facilitating a network of skilled organic seed growers who are not only doing the work of reproducing and multiplying flower, herb and vegetable seeds, but also paying carful attention to breeding and selecting for plants that perform well in low input, diverse microfarms/gardens. It is distinctly possible to select for plants that are resistant to pests, disease and climate stress in addition to important traits such as nutrition, storage ability and beauty."
