Jefferson Baroque Orchestra will present a recital of music for Baroque cello with guest artist Elinor Frey accompanied by JBO Music Director Margret Gries, harpsichord. Tickets are $10, available at the door, at jeffersonbaroque.org or call (541) 592-2681.
Rogue Valley music lovers had the pleasure of hearing Ms. Frey perform the Schumann Cello Concerto with the Rogue Valley Symphony just last week, and are possibly unaware that Ms. Frey is also an accomplished Baroque cellist.Included on her program will be works for solo cello by Francesco Paolo Supriano and Diego Ortiz; works for cello and basso continuo (harpsichord & a 2nd cello, that played by UofO professor Marc VanScheeuwijck) by Francesco Geminiani, Giovanni Battista Bononcini and Christoph Friedrich Bach; a Latin motet by Giovanni Battista Bassani; and a cello concerto by Leonardo Leo with strings and continuo.
