Dancing People Company, the Rogue Valley’s only non-profit professional modern dance company is presenting their fourth annual Salon Series. This dance performance series is an intimate opportunity to watch, consider, and talk about brand new company dances in process with the choreographers and performers. For two consecutive weekends, beginning Saturday, April 17, DPC will present new dances conceived by Artistic Directors Peg Paver and Robin Stiehm, and performed by company dancers Emily Abrahams, Alonzo Moore, Sarah Goldberg, Veronica DeWitt, and Stephanie Narlock, joined by guest performer Jaese Lecuyer. An essential goal of this project is to de-mystify both the creation and appreciation of modern dance. In keeping with the spirit of “Salon”, DPC’s directors, Robin Stiehm and Peggy Paver, will each show new work that pushes their artistic boundaries. This season Peg and the dancers have been exploring perceptions of “beauty” and “ugly”. Works to be shown are "Seabed", an elegant dance of fluid partnering and unison movement. "Allure", a critical look at perceptions of the human body, and "Words", a confrontational representation of language and judgment. Adult discretion for explicit language.Robin will present "Vapor Shape", an abstract work that references an ancient time of seers and mysticism, building on movement associated with physically induced trances, and “Bounce Back” seen first at the Daedalus Project and restaged for Salon.DPC’s Salon Series is made possible by the generous support of The Kinsman Foundation.Saturday and Sunday April 17 and 18Friday, Saturday and Sunday April 23, 24, and 25Friday and Saturdays 8 PM/ Sunday 7 PM$15 genreal admission.
