Controlling Conflict in Novels and Memoirs with Levers, Ratchets and Buttons

Award-winning writer Eric M. Witchey will lead two high-energy seminars on the relationship between conflict and character development. Over the course of the two classes, he will demonstrate how to use conflict to develop and reveal character.

The first session on Saturday morning, May 5, will be an interactive session that demonstrates the power of conflict and the nature of the conflict management tools: levers, ratchets, and buttons.

The afternoon workshop will be hands-on training in which attending writers will practice the techniques presented earlier. Writers who attend both sessions will go home with techniques they can immediately apply to their work – no matter what they write.

When: May 5, Saturday

Morning session: 10 am to 12 pm (networking at 9:30 am) members free, non-members $5

Afternoon workshop: 1:30 to 4:30 pm $30 members, $35 non-members
