Effective Meeting Facilitation Workshop, "Beyond the Flipcharts: Adaptive Communication for Effective Facilitation"Workshop trainer Karen Bolda teaches the workshop on how to lead more effective meetings, "Beyond the Flipcharts: Adaptive Communication for Effective Facilitation," March 12, 1 to 4:30 p.m. in the Medford Library, Adams Room. "Meeting facilitators usually come prepared with an agenda, but there are times to use more powerful techniques," said Bolda."Creating an agenda on the fly is not for the faint of heart," Bolda warns, "but there are two situations that merit spontaneous facilitation." The first is for regular check-in meetings, to keep attendance high and the atmosphere lively. The second is when working with a hostile audience.Karen Bolda is the owner of Tendo LLC where she offers professional development and meeting facilitation training. She worked for the Bureau of Land Management and managed Rogue Valley Council of Governments projects before founding Tendo LLC in 2006. She studied and later taught at Cispus, which teaches communication and collaboration skills for professionals in natural resource management."The skills to keep a group on track, keep conflicting discussions safe, and encouraging all opinions requires more than flipcharts," said Bolda. "Effective facilitation requires the facilitator to use communication skills adapted to the situation and the group culture."The workshop contains small group hands-on activities so attendance is limited to 20 participants. Early registration is suggested. Cost is $60. For more information, contact Karen Bolda at (541) 890-1883, email karen@tendollc.com, or see the website http://www.tendollc.com.
